Projects
”Design that builds identity and experience” is the foundation of our philosophy. At MFD, we view each project as an opportunity to create something completely original, tailoring every aspect of the space to the client’s purpose and personality. Our designs are not one-size-fits-all; we believe in the power of bespoke interiors that reflect the unique vision and needs of each client. Every space we create is an investment – one that adds long-term value, strengthens a brand, and enhances both function and aesthetics.

Havsbadet
Restaurant Taste, Bar & Lounge – Lysekil – 2024
The newly renovated Havsbadet Taste restaurant in Lysekil has quickly become a landmark destination along Sweden’s west coast. Designed by Montecinos Franjola Design, the interior transformation reflects the unique character of Lysekil—serene, vibrant, and rooted in the rhythm of the sea.
Inspired by the coastal surroundings, the space combines warm sunset tones with ocean blues, creating a palette that feels both soothing and sophisticated. Lush materials and textures define the restaurant’s inviting atmosphere, offering guests a seamless experience from daytime coffee to evening dining.
At the heart of the layout, the central bar takes center stage, acting as a natural divider between the restaurant and lounge. With views across the entire space, it’s the perfect place to settle in, connect, and enjoy the full ambiance of this beautifully reimagined venue.
Havsbadet Taste is more than a restaurant—it’s a destination where interior design, sea-inspired calm, and social energy meet in perfect harmony.
Samuelsson Residence
Penthouse – Avenue Gothenburg – 2024
Located in the heart of Gothenburg, the Samuelsson Penthouse is a bold, modern residence designed by Montecinos Franjola Design. The project involved merging two apartments into one expansive, fully customized home tailored to meet the evolving needs of a growing family of six.
Originally designed for two, the space transformed as the family expanded—resulting in an interior that balances sophistication with comfort, function with indulgence. The design is rich in materials, layered with hand-picked elements and iconic pieces from leading international brands. Every detail—from lighting to furnishings—was curated to express personality, precision, and modern luxury.
A striking aquarium greets guests directly from the private elevator, setting the tone for a cinematic, almost Bond-like experience. High-performance lighting, state-of-the-art sound, and smart-home technology enhance the atmosphere throughout. Floor-to-ceiling windows open to a large wraparound terrace, creating a seamless indoor-outdoor flow and panoramic views over Gothenburg.
The Samuelsson Penthouse is more than a residence—it’s a statement of elevated urban living, custom-built for a dynamic modern family.

The villa’s timeless character is matched by a spectacular newly landscaped garden, which sets the tone for the surrounding retreat. The property includes a large guesthouse, a fully equipped barbecue area by the dock, and a generous bastu (sauna) house, perfect for evening conversations and a refreshing dip in the sea.
Inside, the home features an elegant material palette inspired by the surrounding coastal environment. From wood, stone, and linen textures to state-of-the-art comforts, every element is crafted to support both peaceful retreats and lively family gatherings.

Aptic offices
Aptic AB – Skövde – 2019
A modern workspace in a historic setting
In 2019, Montecinos Franjola Design was commissioned to design the new headquarters for Aptic AB—one of Sweden’s leading fintech companies—in a historic building from 1899, located in central Skövde.
Spanning four floors, the design combines the industrial character of the original architecture with a soft, contemporary material palette, reflecting Aptic’s future-forward identity.
Each floor features custom-designed coffee stations and lounges, marked by playful stone flooring in distinctive marble tones, giving each level its own personality. Natural wood floors, muted wall colors, and sculptural lighting contribute to a calm, elegant work environment.
The fourth floor serves as a central hub, with a generous kitchen and lounge for staff breakfasts, meals, informal meetings, and social breaks—designed for both function and flow.
Conference rooms include custom-made tables, acoustic curtains, and wall-to-wall carpets, while open-plan areas were tailored to meet Aptic’s operational needs. Due to the sensitive nature of the business, each floor is equipped with advanced access control systems.
The project was designed and led by Montecinos Franjola Design, with the build executed by W8—a trusted long-term collaborator.

The space includes open-plan work zones, flexible lounge areas, a fully equipped kitchen, two daylight-inspired conference rooms, and private offices tailored for long-term rentals. A standout design feature: custom Bolon flooring created with Missoni, Flos and Pholc lighting, and photography by Andreas Sundgren.

BRF Salteriet
Premium Residential development – Gothenburg – 2017
Builders: Riksbyggen
Arkitekt: White
Interior Arkitekt: MFD
Premium coastal living, tailored for the individual
Located in Västra Eriksberg and developed by Riksbyggen, Brf Salteriet is a premium residential project offering modern coastal living in one of Gothenburg’s most desirable waterfront settings.
Montecinos Franjola Design was commissioned to create the interior design concept for all apartment types—bringing warmth, quality, and individuality to each unit. The project encompassed 61 sustainable condominiums designed by White Arkitekter, with layouts ranging from compact one-bed units to spacious family homes.
To ensure each apartment felt truly personal, every buyer was offered a private 2-hour design consultation with MFD. This process allowed us to tailor layouts, materials, and finishes according to the residents’ needs and preferences.
We also developed a custom design brochure, guiding buyers through curated interior selections—from flooring and fixtures to kitchen finishes and surface palettes. The result was a process that empowered future residents to shape their space while staying within a cohesive design language.
Brf Salteriet reflects a thoughtful approach to modern living: sustainable architecture, refined interiors, and a commitment to creating homes that feel both personal and beautifully considered.
Hagabadet – Drottningtorget
Bathhouse – Drottningtorget, Gothenburg – 2017
In collaboration with W8 Hotel group
A subterranean spa sanctuary in the heart of the city
In 2017, Montecinos Franjola Design was commissioned—in collaboration with W8 Hotel Design Group—to transform the historic basement of the Radisson Blu Scandinavia Hotel into a luxurious urban spa. The result is Hagabadet Drottningtorget: a serene, immersive destination where history, mysticism, and contemporary wellness come together.
Inspired by 17th-century subterranean baths in Barcelona, the 1,250 m² space features arched ceilings, ambient lighting, and rich material contrasts. Elements of Gothenburg’s old city wall were carefully preserved and integrated, grounding the design in place and time.
Key features include:
- A central pool surrounded by sculptural lighting and art
- Custom lounge swings and seating for rest and recovery
- Steam saunas, treatment rooms, and cold plunge areas
- Signature water features, including the Göteborgsduschen
- Artworks by Swedish artist Peter Apelgren, adding local identity
Awarded Best Interior Design by the World Luxury Spa Awards in 2020, Hagabadet Drottningtorget is a space of quiet luxury—designed to restore, inspire, and transport guests into a deeper sense of calm and presence.
